Pre-Surgery

The United States Preventative Services task force, best-practices for surgeons, and many insurance companies recommend that patients have a psychological evaluation before undergoing complicated and/or elective surgeries (spinal neuro-stimulator surgery, gastric bypass surgery, organ transplant, etc.). Psychological evaluations help assist physician decision-making, enhance patient awareness, and improve treatment planning pre and post-surgery. Surgery outcomes are improved if used in conjunction with psychological assessment and care. See the following articles for more information:

Our pre-surgery evaluations include a clinical interview, symptom review, gathering information from significant others, and administering appropriate psychological tests. Upon completing testing, the evaluator will write an integrated report that includes any found diagnoses, treatment recommendations, and any necessary accommodations.
